Uniquely Hunterdon Holiday Shopping Day

Nothing beats a beautiful Saturday morning in early December!  

Especially when you will be spending the day with your friends and shopping!! 

This is going to be a perfect day out!!!

I have been mapping out this day for weeks!!!  As soon as I saw that WoodsEdge was opening for the season and the Black Shed was decorated with holiday magic, I knew I had to bring my friends.  I mapped out the perfect day with 5 stops along western part of the county.

1. WoodsEdge Farm, Delaware Township

We pile into the car and head to WoodsEdge Farm.  We wind our way down the back roads to WoodsEdge.  The drive is picturesque, and car is full of good cheer!

We drive down the driveway and admire the scenery – a pond, a bridge, a farm home, a Yak!

We now feel like kids and can’t wait to jump out of the car and see the animals.  What a special surprise – the Yaks, llamas and Alpacas are all out in the fields and are eager to be admired.  A quick selfie and we head into our first shopping spot.  The farm store is gorgeous and filled with beautiful items.  We try on sweaters, hats, gloves and finally settle on socks for the kids, hats for the hubbies and honey for the teachers.  I sneak back later that week to buy the sweater for my girlfriend.  Her husband is relieved there will now be one gift under the tree that she will love!

2.Chez Alice, Lambertville 

After going back out and taking more pictures of the llamas and the beautiful farm, we head to Lambertville for lunch.  Chez Alice is the perfect stop.  They have all the delectables of a French bistro: quiche, sandwiches on freshly baked breads and of course pastries!   We sample everything.  Best decision ever!  My friend was joking that we should have had a beer to wash it down.  I quickly said we can!  We packed up and drove down the street to Odd Bird Brewery. 

3. Odd Bird Brewery, Stockton

As we pull up, we are pleased to see that the Brewery garage bay is open.  They are taking advantage of the unseasonably warm and sunny day.  Bikes are parked out front and everyone is gathered around the picnic tables.  We decide that this will be a quick stop because we need to get more shopping done!  I dig out my beer passport, buy some beer to go and got my passport stamped.  I encouraged my one friend to buy a shirt for her husband who has already completed the beer passport.  She is now on a mission to buy a shirt from all the Hunterdon Breweries to put under the tree for him!

4. Black Shed, Kingwood

Next, we head to the Black Shed.  I am so excited to bring them there.  This is one of the most unique shops in Hunterdon.  It is a garden and landscaping business but also has a bar!  We park in the back near the ducks and chickens and notice that the goats have a home here too.  The entire place is decked out with lights and the most charming decorations. We decide to get a festive beverage before we walk around and continue our shopping. The atmosphere was so inviting.  They had fire pits set up all around, the music was playing, the smell of pine was everywhere!  We didn’t want to leave but we had one more stop to make! 

5. Holiday Shopping Stops in Frenchtown 

Frenchtown was minutes away.  We decided that we needed to find some stocking stuffers for the kids.  Sunbeam General was the perfect spot!  We left and stopped in Della Terra.  Their window displays drew us in.  A home goods boutique that you are sure to find something.  Hands now filled with bags we start walking back to the car.  We stop in several more stores looking for those last few things to cross off our list – River Gypsy, Frenchtown Bookshop. And for a truly unique store, visit the aptly named Casa Bizzaro!
